NORKEN
Soul Static Bureau
BMCD003 / BMLP003 (dbl LP)

Soul Static Bureau - an album of warm and soulful Detroit sounding flavours
reminiscent of early Carl Craig and John Beltram with a twist of Aphex
Twin. A mixture of slick production and lo-fi quirkiness, this album holds
attention from start to finish. Inspiring and sometimes heart breakingly
beautiful, this album could potentially bring the faith back in the ageing
techno headz.

Soul Static Bureau, the debut album by Norken, follows two acclaimed 12"
EPs, 'Southern Soul', released two years ago on Clear's offshoot label
Reel, and 'Tidal Frequencies' on Beau Monde's sub label Numbers. Both
singles caused quite a stir and tracks from these two singles are featured
on the album. The mighty 'Southern Soul' track, also featured on the album
will be released again as a single with two remixes by other artists early
next year.

Norken also has past releases under the alias Metamatics with a string of
singles and an album on the now defunct Clear record label, and singles for
DOT and Skam.

Tracks have also appeared on compilation albums Future Sound of Jazz Vol 3
on Compost and compilation albums by P-Vine in Japan. Metamatics remixes
of A1 People, CSM and Roupe and Friend & Doctor Kosmos have also seen the
light of day. September sees a new Metamatics album 'Neo Ouija' released
on Hydrogen Dukebox.

Metamatics is the more experimental and electronic side of Devon based Lee
Norris. Norken is the warm and soulful, deep house sounding project,
exclusive to Beau Monde.
