I started out as a child. A child in the mid 50's with a big sister 14
years older than me and into music...cut my chompers to the likes of
Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee and that guy who sang "I yust go
nuts at Christlemas". I knew the records by their labels before I could
read and often fell asleep in front the record player. Doo wop came and
went. The Everlys, the girl groups (Phil Spector, etc). MOTOWN (I Am
from very near Detroit). Beach boys, Stax, Beatles, Kinks (too many
other Brits to name), Yardbirds, Hendrix, My discovery of Blues, Zep, My
discovery of fusion and then mainstream Jazz, (drugs all throughout this
part) ROXY, BOWIE, CAN, K-WERK, ENO,Dance music in general and then the
Pistols explode onto the scene with The Clash, XTC and everyone else.I
discover reggae, ska, etc.( The Specials and Madness are in there
somewhere out of order) Adrian Sherwood dubs it to death. Electric Cafe,
THE ELECTRIFYING MOJO, House music, Depeche when I could stand 'em,
electro, hip hop, Juan, LFO, WARP, AFX and a ton of stuff I left out.
Now I'm old.
