> The seller kindly popped the hood and took some shots for me: > https://imgur.com/a/RZqdhwI A few thoughts but not necessarily criticisms... 1. I can't see an earth connection. A decent IEC mains inlet would be preferable. And without an earth it's probably illegal to sell it. 2. Single sided circuit board like the original. Clearly made as a one off though. No solder mask like the original. But unlike the original, made from two boards which rely on a thick band of soldered copper between the two boards on the underside and several wire links on the topside. Bearing in mind that the pots aren't secured to the front panel the whole thing is probably quite flimsy. 3. I haven't worked out how those pots are secured. It looks like heatshrink tube over a cylindrical bit of wood/plastic with two bits of wire soldered to the pot body and into the board. Probably quite stable but must have taken ages to do. 4. The pots are for the most part 16mm Alpha or similar. I've never found Alpha's log pots that satisfactory for the EGs attack, decay and release pots because the taper law isn't accurate enough at the fast end. 5. Hefty power supply and, unlike the original, the electronics are not fitted to the main board which is probably a good thing. I would have mounted the power devices onto a slab of aluminium and secured to the rear panel getting the heat away from the insides. But as it stands I don't think they'd heat up that much anyhow. 6. Definitely, a labour of love to build. Put a proper earth on it and it'll be quite a nice instrument. Not sure I'd pay nearly a thousand pounds for it though. Tony www.oakleysound.com
