helloo.

so.. in the afternoon i watched that dj shadow fellow playing records at a
free show at the local record shop, here in austin. for me it was too
quiet and the record changes were too slow, so i became slightly bored.
others seemed to be a bit more into it, however.

we engaged afterward in white-chocolate-espresso-bean iced cream from the
shop next door. locally made stuff, with dense clusters of milkchocolate
covered espresso beans, rich icedcream. wow. this left us somewhat more
excited about things.. life generally, i suppose.. and so, since it was
dusk more or less, we thought to go watch the bats emerging from beneath
the congress street bridge, but unfortunately by the time we escaped the
parking it was nearly dark, and the bats gone. after nitetime mosquitos,
i think.

oh.. so after after all that, i picked up this swedish magazine Merge (#2)
at the bookstore. er.. issues of these things.. er.. periodicals, i mean,
and ones of foreign origin in particular.. tend to arrive sort of late to
this part of texas, so forgive me if you've seen all this already.. the
first issue was about.. er.. cars, or driving, or something like this, but
the second (fall98, it says) is all about sound, and has some interesting
and less-so articles. one of them is about creating sound from lightning
[not thunder], one an article on berlin, and another an interview with
mouse on mars. er.. anyway, for seven dollars it also came with this
rather nice compact disc compilation. let me list the tracks below, at
the fond, ok?

i've only partly listened to it once, but liked especially the tracks by
vodershow, omala, seti, funkstorung, matmos. presumably some of you have
heard this recording by now.. any thoughts? ciao,
