hi all,
awaiting the release of mr. kirk's latest effort as _electronic eye_
(entitled neurometrik), i dug out both previous _ee_ releases on beyond,
being _closed circuit_ (2 x cd - '94) and _the idea of justice_ (cd - '95).
while the latter is a bit of hit and miss, _closed circuit_ still sounds
gorgeous in all its idm (quirky rhythms, great melodies) and ambient
(namlookian (or should namlook state kirkian ?) synth washes and pulses)
beauty.
_closed circuit_ fits in perfect with his 2nd generation electronic sound
format (i consider his 1st to be his bleep stuff, mainly as sweet exorcist).
other great examples of this "style" are kirk's _virtual state_ on warp
('93), cabaret voltaire's _the conversation_ on r&s ('94) and sandoz'
_digital lifeforms_ and _intensely radio-active_ on touch.
a definite recommendation for those of you into smooth idm with dark ambient
interludes ! if you can find the 4 x vinyl release, you will even have a
very nice hard cover box instead of a regular lp cover.
