Hiya kids-
Woo hoo, just got my ears on the new squarepusher "maximum priest"
ep and was I suprised! Going into this, I had no idea what to expect, but
with AE and wagon christ mixes I figured it has to have at least 2 good
tracks. Wow, Track 2 almost sounds like Tom has gone back to his old ways,
yet is far stranger and more distorted than his previous stuff. Here's the
break down:
1. Song - Our Underwater Torch : Hmmm, strangely similar to
'iambic 5 poetry'. nice opener.
2. Decathon Oxide : Tom has rediscovered the "Crazy Breakbeats"
button on his sampler. great track.
3. Your Going Down : Tom lays his magic fingers on the old 4
string and busts out some cool jazz. really *really* good bass work.
4. Cranium Oxide : 32seconds of screaming and noise. cool.
5. Two Bass Hit (AE Mix) : ep7 meets windowlicker. a very odd, yet
very autechre remix.
6. Circular Flexing (Yee-King Mix) : Ok, this has got to be a self
remix. classic squarepusher complete with 303 tweakin'. my favorite track.
7. Shin Triad (Wagon Christ Mix) : A very wagon christ remix,
though not as goofy as usual. a great remix of the original.
Thsi is probably the best thing I've seen from squarepusher in
over a year. Can't wait for the next one. peace.
