>Oh, and about those Gang of Four Rykodisc issues - werd. I think it's >interesting how movements/sub-genres tend to have 1-2 year "golden periods". >Punk from 1976-1977, Post-Punk from 1979-1980, IDM from 1993-1994. >Discuss :D Funny how most idm-heads missed this one, agreed, or were afraid to answer. 1993-1994. I agree totally. That was far and away idm's golden era. When I look it at my collection my favorites are all from that era. (There are couple favorites from that era that I didn't hear until 95-96.) Sender: xxx-xxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx Precedence: bulk Orbital 2, Surfing on Sine Waves, Amber, all of u-ziq on Rephlex, Global Communications two albums. Sheesh. It doesn't get any better. I am very surprised to see how many people on this list got into idm because of Tri Repetae. I still think it's Autechre's worst. Boring. To point out an example, brap, a list member I respect highly, said this is how he entered, and then a week or two ago said that he just heard his first 808 State track from that split 7-inch with Jega. I mean, come on. Word to the Golden Years. Phil Downey
