>From Bent Crayon's list: KOOLA KING One Latin - Continuing Mark Broom's foray into jazz comes this newie on his much respected Pure Plastic label.Original on this one is a heady cocktail of sax, flute, bass and drums and has already drwn the attention of Giles Patterson and the like.2 Remixes come from Plaid and the Midnight Funk Association contribute one. 12 PURE PLASTIC I got this last night, and it's superb. The original is a busy Latin American flavored jam with lots of horn stabs and castanet (sp?) jangles. Plaid takes the track and adds some extra magic with new layers of melodies and harder beats - it reminds me a little bit of Scoobs in Columbia, except busier. The end result also feels a bit more digital, with slightly less warmth of the original. The MFA mix is a tad dull. Quite nice overall.
