Did some music shopping today and got some real gems. Here a comment or two on each of them - hardly recoreviews but since brap laid a guilt trip on me, i had to do something... : )

. Monolake: Tangent 12" (Monolake)
Three luscious tracks of deep bc/cr/m-flavored techno with more of an experimental flare than on previous Momolake releases. Just imagine throwing some of the experimental Imbalance label tracks over some of Maurizio's M label stuff. A real advancement in the bc/cr/m-flavor while still staying true to the original sound. One of the best bc/cr/m-flavored
releases to come out in a long time. Superb.

. Cube & Sphere: Great Norwegian Explorers 2x12" (Disko B)
An impressive mix of experimental d&b, techno, ambience and jazz from P. Platzgumer & Gerard Potuznik on this, their first album together. A strong release for those who like to hear all of the aforemented styles in each and every track. think squarepusher meets trash meets horse opera.

. Peter Ford/Thomas Melchior: Sunpeople 12" (Trelik)
. R.Rash: Showtime 12" (Trelik)
Two new Trelik eps both in the cool pumping abstract techno style. The sunpeople has more of a deep techno sound whereas the R.Rash relies a bit more on the acidic sounds of previous Trelik releases. Both eps will appeal to Ford/Broom/Pure Plastic/Trelik/Ifach fans.

. Thor: Aliens Dont Boogie 12" (Ae2)
The second release on this Thule sublabel. This one is from Electrolux & Thule artist Thor and it features four tracks of punchy cr-styled filtered tech-house very much in the Thule or Svek style. Recommended.

. Gas: Oktember LP (Mille Plateaux)
A great mini-lp of deep warm filtered b/c-flavored techno from reinhard voight aka mike ink. expect warm aquatic chords, deep spacious synth washes and muted 4/4 percussion on this one. if you liked the the gas zauberberg album then you'll love this one because it picks up where that one left off. Excellent stuff.

. Isan/Tin Foil Star: split 10" (Atomic)
A cool split of great experimental from isan and spacey indiepop from tin foil star. The three isan tracks are beautiful electronic tracks in the vein of kraftwerk meets pole meets autechre. The tin foil stars side is a little less impressive featuring some spacey vocal pop. With it for the three isan track alone.

. Vainio, Pita & Palestine: 3 Compositions for Machines cd (Staalplaat)
Interesting mego-styled experimental electronica from Panasonic, Pita and Charlemange Palestine. These five tracks were recorded as part of the Masterclass Festival utilizing instruments i've never heard of before - a rauscher, schellenbaum and siren. The tracks very in sound from one based entirely on whirring and whooshing sounds to another comprised of bell and castinette sounds to one based on a 9-minute drone tone. But the gem of this release is the 18 minute collaborative track by Mika Vanio (Panasonic) and Peter Rehberg (Pita). Good experimental fun.
