Probably pointless trying but.... When Autechre play live they don't tweak existing tracks like most other live 'electronic' bands (something Aphex is very guilty of) they create new tracks from sound elements which they tend to use exclusively for live shows. There is some overlap between 'live shows' and 'records', (elements from _Goz Quarter_ and _Tilapia_ can be heard in their current core set) but tracks you hear live will probably never be released. To some degree this is frustrating but i'm into the idea that you have the memory instead of some artist degrading crappy mp3. They deliberately do this I guess because there's no point in recreating tracks you can buy for a few quid down at HMV live. Each set is a unique performance, a memory each of the audience can take with them. Something you _can't_ buy down HMV - things like that have their own value in the current climate. If you simply didn't like the music they played live, well fine, current sets are pretty 'extreme' in comparision with releases. I'm not into high end digital wankery for it's own sake and sometimes you have to wonder... but perhaps if people spent less time noting things to whine about, heat, the crowd response etc etc they might enjoy the music more. Just chill a bit. Go and see them when they play again and be prepared to hear things you won't like. If you want to get off yer face and dance to a 'live' band (and why not?) go and see Underworld, they move crowds like no one else and all credit to them for that. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
