Finally...we're talking about Booty! There is some pretty good stuff out there, like DJ Magic Mike's "Foundations of Bass" (compilation of early-'90s material), similar to Ultramagnetic MC's and other early sampled hip-hop). It's not IDM by any means, but if you're into old-school rap and IDM, it's worth checking out. And don't forget about the Beasties' Grand Royal magazine feature on bass; it's pretty hilarious and has just the right balance of seriousness and tongue-in-cheek booty humor. Speaking of, I've been mildly impressed with a couple of tracks from the whole No Limit posse (Master P., Silkk the Shocker, C-Murder, along with about two dozen other rapper/producers who appear on <each> track). Don't go out and buy the albums, but there's a track or two worth hearing on Master P.'s "Ghetto D" and Silkk's "Charge It 2 Da Game" that would make a very good compilation. It's really bass-influenced, but just like a lot of bass music, there's some interesting rhythms that come close to drum'n'bass, and a really clean production style rooted in electro. Other Southern rappers doing good stuff: Outkast, Goodie Mob, Witchdoctor... .John. NP: Bob Marley - Natty Dread
