Mad Professor's new album "Dubtronic" (Ariwa/Ras) is pretty fried. In
addition to some wackier than average dubs, this album gives the listener a
dub slant on currently "hip" electronic styles (drum and bass, trip-hop).
"Drum and Bass in the Asylum" and "Acid Queen" are d 'n' b with a dub rinse.
"Disco Dub" uses a 4/4 beat as a tackboard for loopy effects and ends up
sounding like a goofy version of a Chain Reaction project. The level of
weirdness is fairly consistent throughout the entire album. Adventurous
listeners take note.
