[socal specific!] hola. shamballa (friday 7/23) was the shit! good chill music (ranging from ambient to jazz to guitar drone) and great food :) and nice visuals in a very intimate location. big props to all folks involved in this, especially daniel bremmer and dave mosso (aka chowderhead). i hope they choose to host another event like this. on the performances: jg weir vs kzk: these two guys, john and brian, are quite the talented people.. and when they get together to do this particular guitar project, i think it works QUITE well. excellent guitar drone. put my loopy head into a nice trance. thought it was quite cute how mr kzk/brian reverts to an 8 year old child (complete with slinky!) when he plays. atticus coucil: great great jazz! i have seen these guys play as the atticus trio (they changed the name to allow some rotation/additions with the band).. but i think last night was my fave performance from them. was neat to hear the reactions of people to these guys.. and was also very neat to have such a jazzy element at a chill event. de3: de3/dan was the last live act of the night.. very good abstract/ambient/idm-ish/techno/howeveryouwanttoclassifyhismusic set. this was my first time being able to see dan in a live context outside of the kuci studios.. i was quite impressed. on the food: it was good veggie indian food. what more can i say? :) i guess that is it. hopefully those that planned to go but could not get tickets will buy them early before they sell out next time! chris. music, four lunchpails: wednesdays 7-9pm kuci 88.9fm www.kuci.org "He bought me a full set of camies.
