>I would say that "Planet Rock" was pretty much everone's favorite with >umpteen mixes of that floating around the country. Although not "electro" >per'say, ZAPP's "More Bounce To The ounce" was a personal favorite and then >later Herbie Hancocks "Rockit" and mixes >shortly after breaking mucho ground! I got this great CD out of the whole "$4.95 CD-World-Explosion!" (actually, haven't been charged for any of the 12 boxes of CD's that have shown up @ the Reckankomplex from MyShopNow yet, anyone else have this happen?) on Tommy Boy (1992) call "Don't Stop... Planet Rock, The Remix EP" which features 7 versions of said chestnut by LFO, 808 State, DJ Magic Mike, Kupper/Moretta, Elektric Music (Karl Bartos of Kraftwerk & Lothar Manteuffel), as well as the Afrika Bambaataa & the Soulsonic Force original and a Bonus Beats track. It rules. As does 'Rockit', esp. the extended 12" mix versions. I understand Laswell did a total of three records w/Herbie, although I can only recall 'Future Shock' and 'Perfect Machine', both of which are pretty damaged... Along the same lines (not sure about releases, legitimacy, etc...) is this guy named 'the Egyptian' who did a slew of tracks in the classic era, most notably 'Egyptian Lover'. Excellent. -Våt ____________________ Reckankreuzungsklankewerkzeuge PO BOX 382864. Cambridge, MA 02238 http://www.tiac.net/users/sheket/index.html
