Artist: Hrvatski Title: Oiseaux 96-98 (RKK-1 CD) Label:Reckankreuzungsklankwerzeuge / Forced Exposure What we have here is the best 'experimental breakbeat/avant garde drum&bass' lp of the year (i doubt it will be topped in the next few months). breaks may be passe, but when you're listening to the finest breaks programmer in the U.S., you don't really care. I mean these breaks twist, turn stop, start, fade/filter in & out, mutate, and generally subjected to a barrage of fx/plug-ins. the musical accompaniment include samples? of horns, pianos, guitars, digital noises all twisted and mutated like the breaks. dope! check the 'ghatham' track at: http://www.mp3.com/artists/12/hrvatski.html for a preview I also have to mention that when Hrvatski d-jay'd in NY last week he mixed herbie hancock's sextant with a luke vibert track, and an old dirty bastard a capella over what i think was autechre's keynell, those were two sweet d-jay moments for me!
