Just picked up some very good 12"s this week at my local record shop. . Stasis: Block 12" (Pure Plastic 013) - Steve Pickton cranks out some innovative minimal techno. 8/10 . Fusion: Funk At Five 12" (Ferox 025) - Russ Gabriel and his excellent jazzy tech-house. 8/10 . From Beyond comp #2 12" (Interdimensional Transmissions #5) - Breathtaking electro from Sluts 'n' Strings & 909, Flexitone, Phoenecia and 4E. 7/10 . Pacific State comp: v/a 2xCD (Deviant) - 21 tracks of the best Japan has to offer in various electronic music styles. Players include Ken Ishii, Boom Boom Satellites, Takkyu Ishino, Co-Fusion, Nobukazu Takemura, Web, Hoodrum, DJ Krush, Rei Harakami, and Prism to name a few. 8/10 . Decay Product comp: v/a CD (Chain Reaction) - Another stunning cd from chain reaction. This one is a comp that culls tracks from several of the 20 chain reaction 12"s. As usual, if you like the basic channel sound this cd is a must! 9/10 . Gaz Varley presents: Tony Montana 12" (Studio K7!) - A storming 12" of excellent minimal techno from one this former lfo member. I haven't heard a pounding techno record this good in some time. 10/10 . Insync + IF: Masp 12" (Plink Plonk) - Some great experimental abstract minimal techno from some of my favorite artists. People involved on this 12" are Insync, Mark Broom, Dave Hill, and ? Pantelli. 10/10 . Mail Order Only comp 12" (Pure Plastic) - My local shop somehow scored several copies of this supposed mail-order only 12" comp featuring tracks by Repeat, Midnight Funk Association and Mark Broom. This is a pure plastic treasure for the amazing Repeat track alone. 11/10 Good hunting. I'm sure delighted with my catch. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
