Lorne > shiny new ribbon cables too? Just the keyboard and interface ribbon cables were replaced. The other ribbons were in good condition. Here's the before and after pictures. The 'before' being the machine as it arrived with me. http://www.oakleysound.com/OBSX_before.jpg http://www.oakleysound.com/OBSX_after.jpg As you can see the poor thing was voiceless. It did have an unusual midi interface fitted but I have removed that so I can use this one: http://www.midisoft.de/OBSX/obsx_midi_control_rev2c.html The new end cheeks are courtesy of Ross Lamond. The bizarre thing was that the CPU board was fitted with the last version of the software but the board is an early version and was fitted with all the components for the earlier firmware including the monophonic glide circuit. Needless to say it didn't work very well even after all the dead ICs were replaced. The original DAC had also died and I couldn't get a replacement without paying a lot. So I lashed up, on a small bit of stripboard, a different but better DAC. You can see it fitted to the middle of the CPU board. Tony www.oakleysound.com
