Mainly I'm > thinking of his contributions to the Mille Plateaux comp 'In Memoriam > Gilles Deleuze' and the Caipirinha comp 'Deutscher Funk'. the track on _deutscher funk_ is from his cd _monoTM_, which should still be obtainable. with many of his releases on his own rather interesting label, if you're looking in record stores, you might have to look in three or four places -- no one can really seem to figure out what letter to file his releases under ("a" for atom heart? by album title? are the album titles also project titles? it gets confusing...) as for his track on _in memorium_, that's not very representative, but he did do a couple full-length albums in that style. one is quite old and hard to get, although it is excellent -- _dots_. the other is more recent and shouldn't be that hard to track down -- _digital superimposing_ (released on side effects under the name artificial depth). > Could someone recommend things heading in these directions - soft burbly > analogue sounds with a strong digital bent to the effects and processing? it's funny but you've just sort of described the entirety of his work on his own rather interesting label since he formed it in 1994. there's no real consensus (at least, not on the atom heart list) as to which of those releases is his best; everybody has their favorites. the ones i keep coming back to are: * datacide, flowerhead (reissued through asphodel) * masters of psychedelic ambiance, mu (hard to find, unfortunately) * hat, hat (brilliant digital electro-jazz) * +n, built (all over the map really, but consistently excellent) * dandy jack, dandy jack and the plastic woman (this isn't atom heart, actually, but it's brilliant nonetheless, and very ah-esque) * silver sound, silver sound 60 (mellow electronic ambient-lounge-jazz-funk) * schnittstelle (one of the best things he's ever done, imo) if you're interested, there's also a full-length track downloadable in realaudio in the new issue of urban sounds (there's an interview, too). email my privately for info on that stuff. peace, sc
