Well if you insist... Second mvt of Ravel's Piano Concerto (the one for two hands no left hand) is the most beautiful piece of music ever written. The slow movement of Schubert's E-flat minor piano trio. All of Faure's Requiem. Tender is the Night (the Long Fidelity) by Australian band The Triffids is gorgeous and incredibly sad, to me. Secret Stair Parts 1 and in particular 2 by Mu-ziq. And the first track from Mu-ziq vs the Auteurs, which is officially Lenny Valentino 3... massif (stay strong) by Squarepusher, one of the most evocative pieces of idm IMO. OF COURSE, everything you do is a balloon by BOC. Alberto Balsalm by Aphex Twin, of course, if you're in the right mood. [But none of these are particularly melodramatic. Neither is the Ravel though!] St Christopher's Dream (mask mix) - Ragga & the Python King from Lo Recordings Vol 2 (Collaborations). That's enough, I'm surprised noone's complained yet... -- Peter Hollo xxxxx@xxx.xxx.xx http://www.cia.com.au/raven/ FourPlay - Eclectic Electric String Quartet http://www.cia.com.au/raven/fourplay.html "Of course, dance music can be a music where you lie on your back and your brain cells dance" -Michael Karoli of Can, quoted in Wire mag.
