You know, the answer to this riddle could be trouble from the pressing plant. Plant: "You want to put several minutes of audio in the 2-second pregap before track one? Our machines will only accept a standard, 2-second, silent pregap." Label: "Crap! If we have someone else press it, we'll have to delay the release, and we're already behind schedule. Ah, jeez, just cut the bonus track..." I'm in the middle of a similar situation right now, trying to figure out why Cinram is choking on perfectly functional CD-Extra premasters, when nobody at the plant can even say what the problem is. The point is, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that anyone is trying to rip you off.
