>Are any of the Tortoise or Oval releases available at the concert? How >about t-shirts and other merchandising? I've never heard Oval's music >before and was wondering why someone said that their sound didn't come >off too well live. Who are they comparable too? i saw the show in cambridge/boston last night; really good if you're into tortoise. oval was very impressive--having only heard his recorded material, i was expecting kind of a droney/clicky thing, but it was very dynamic. it sounded vaguely like he was spontaneously remixing something by tortoise, but hard to tell. also hard to describe. tortoise was wonderful as well. don't miss the show if it comes by... merchandise: by way of oval, you could get systemesch and dok on vinyl or cd. tortoise had three shirts, the three u.s.-released albums (tortoise, millions..., tnt), a tour 45 ("madison ave/madison area"), and a remix cd of material from millions. it's the same as the japanese release; the thrill jockey website says it's getting a u.s. release soon. very good stuff: remixes by u.n.k.l.e., jim o'rourke, oval, spring heel jack, john mcentire, bundy k. brown. i like it anyway. dan
