(idm) MAX?

Does anyone know anything about an application called MAX, apparently an app
for creating new sound interfaces?  I'm especially interested in what
artists might be using this (is this like what Autechre is using to develop
their own software?)?

Also, has anyone heard any tracks by Shirt Trax on Touch/OR?
