The CV and Gate Ins make it controlable via MIDI (through a MIDI to CV converter, of course). And the plethora of added knobs and switches adds hours of twiddling fun. You can also control Slide, Accent, and something call Audio to FM Filter which I haven't quite figured out yet. >> Fish-heads. I had my Devilfish done in early 96...At the time i think it cost me $700 (after shipping express mail/$40 bank transfer fee etc.) Robin does TOP OF THE LINE WORK. He is a *great* tech and a nice guy...... The work he puts into the unit is worth the money......he changes the buttons..gives the 303 a once over....install's the mod...tests it out..etc etc... Everyone should talk to Robin just once! Hes cool as hell. I dont read "the press" much....but just last night i was over a friends house reading a magizine called "MASSIVE" (ah's mark verbos (is he still here) writes a captin analog thing for it....pretty good stuff...smart guy) Anyway.......that cry baby little bitch ;) Richard Hawtin was AGAIN slagging the devilfish saying it was not the secret to his sound......it was not used on "krakpot" blah blah. This was the 2ed time i saw him talk about this mod....(first time was in Future Muisc ?) And he did'nt have very nice things to say about it either time...Boo Hoo.....! (all the richie hawtin groupies on this list ****please***** dont send me your hate mail....yes i am bitter that im not a rock n roll star and i have too sit here at werk on a god damn computer all day crunching fook'in numbers!) Back 2 the devilfish- i get asked alot if i would do the devilfish mod today..and i mostly awnser NO. this has ***nothing*** to do with the sound or the quality of the work...... When i had most of the wierd mod's done 2 my old stuff the analogue world was a diffrent place......there were not alot of crazy "new" products out on the market.... Now look at the world of analog! Just in the last month we saw the release of moogerfoogers, sidstations...EH synthbass pedals, new doepfer modulas CHECK OUT THE NEW Blacet ring mod! and freq divider! Check out Paul Perry's FROSTWAVE and Blue ringer!.....1999 IS NOT 1995. We have new stuff to choose from.....new cool stuff! I have not used the dfish in the last year.......and if you look at the price of a devilfish: $800 for a 303 (is that what they go for now?) $700 for the mod's thats $1500.00!!!!!!! THE PRICE OF A DOEPFER basic system!!!!!!!!!! Id sell my devilfish NOW if someone offered me $1500 dollars! Now.....if you are an Acid Junky (or listen 2 the acid junkys?) the devilfish is awsome..........im glad i did it..... But also remember the 303 is 20 years old...what are you gonna do when the NEC cpu blows OR what are you gonna do when the res pot dies...? Good luck finding a new res pot. (i have an extra res pot BTW for that sod whos gonna buy my dfish ;) -r www.kultbox.com ****************************************************************************** ******* KULTBOX RECORDS/ ILL STATE UNDERGROUND, CHICAGO USA Winter 99 There's a new upcomming 7" release on Chicago-based label KULTBOX entitled "TIME OUT OF JOINT." It's an audio verite/musique concrete conceptual package based on time signals and the millennium. I assembled it and wrote the liner notes. I'm told it will be 300 copies, limited-edition. Contact xxxxxxx@xxx.xxx for more info on this one. TIME OUT OF JOINT Time is no longer defined by succession because succession concerns only things and movements which are in time. If time itself were succession, it would need to succeed in another time, and on to infinity. Things succeed each other in various times, but they are also simultaneous in the same time, and they remain in an indefinite time. It is no longer a question of defining time by succession, nor space by simultaneity, nor permanence by eternity. -- Gilles Deleuze, 1963 End of succession :: End of time :: "Eternity ":: ? Trial Document Nr. 1: At the tone sixteen hours forty two minutes. Bang. Documents made in time of time. Time captured on tape. Time frozen. Sample and hold. It's simple to freeze time: what is time but a representation? (A splice in time saves...) Real time Just in time Right on time From time to time Time and time again A matter of time A wrinkle in time "time ... is on my side" There must be something to this. Burroughs and Gysin sewed time into itself and saw that the future leaked in. The cut-up method as primitive prophecy: time has form and can be violated. Time is in the atoms. Polarize a controlled environment and you can make a cesium atom jump through hoops. Under the right circumstances it's inviolable. Steady. But what makes it Time? Nothing, until they say so. Give it an audio signal and put it on the air. Two letters later you're in business. This is Radio Station WWV, Fort Collins, Colorado, broadcasting on standard carrier frequencies Cesium. Hydrogen. Radio waves. Ionosphere. Magnetic strips. Digital encoding. Wax. Now you can buy time sliced lengthwise. A few spins and you'll be in the future before you know it. People are constantly trying to stop the future as fast as they're trying to make it happen. >From the futurists to the desert moralists it's one big tug of war towards the Millennium. It'll be here soon enough, don't shove. You can hear the future on any shortwave radio. You don't have to strain to hear it coming. It's got tiny footsteps, the magnetic prints of cesium ions jumping. With time signals it's all the same. The past the future and right now. They've been ticking on indifferently since before you were born and they'll probably outlive you. Difference is, they're not afraid. And they're not in any hurry. Pre-millennium tension is nothing but a potato sack race towards inevitability. You may as well sit it out. Starting right now you could play this record 36,000 times before Y2K. Take your time. ****************************************************************************** *******
