This whole thing is totaly subjective. If computers push your buttons...get the Nord..it really cooks!! If hardware is your bag and if you REALLY enjoy that tactile experience, then you must get a Doepfer or a Serge or a Modcan. I've played the Doepfer and Serge they are both wonderfull instruments. Bang for the buck award goes to Doepfer. It's a stable system and looks sexy as hell and sounds good. I chose the Serge system..... to my ear it sounds better...it's physicaly larger, therefore easier to get around on. The TKB panel is the best hardware sequencer around IMHO and there are some modules that are unique to the Serge that are great for sound manglers. The main selling point for me was flexibility. The Serge uses stackable banana patch cords...you can re-stack re-patch over and over again...it's insane. Some people will say Serge sounds to clean....so??..you can make it snarl if you want. Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth...others will disagree with me and that's ok. To each his own. Everyone here has different ways of working and has different needs. Besides, wouldn't it be boring if there was just one manufacturer? Even Rex at Sound Transform is a big fan of mixing apples and oranges so to speak.... Each of these systems has it's own strong points...I really don't think you could go wrong no matter which one you choose. The future may belong to Clavia, but the Doepfer and Serge will always have their place. Kind regards John
