Both use the uA726 for the oscillators and have discreet circuitry... >Just curious! >Anyone owned both and have any views?<<< hi, i haven't heard an SH5 in person but it's from the same era and i've heard it sounds very similar to the System 100... i have also owned a System 100M & i can say that it sounds nothing like the 100. i'm a huge fan of vintage Roland stuff but i didn't much like the sound of the 100m at all. i just had the basic 5-module system. i found the OSCs very thin sounding & the filter was not very inspiring -- i found it quite 303-ish, which may be nice for acidy sounds, but not a filter i wanted in a modular -- with high resonance, there was always that acidy sqwalk. i also loved the layout & ease of use on the 100m & it looks great.... it's just too bad about the sound, IMO the 100, on the other hand, sounds fat & beautiful IMO , and is surprisingly flexible if you have the 101/102 combo bye jason
