Picked up an EP by Alien, out on Blue Room Records, I forget the title (Frankie The something) and the CD is in the car, oh well. The original is somewhat big-beatish, not too interesting. But both Plaid and As One step up for their remixing duties, and do a grand job. Kirk dG does a funky and relatively frenetic jam, in one of his more percussive, less downtempo moods. Plaid work their melodic magic, adding whole chunks of sweet stuff where there wasn't any tune to work with in the original version. They seem to have been too lazy to work on the beats though - it's sorta mild shuffling electro that gets a little more complex towards the end of the track - which is too bad, since the melodies are so ace. The last remix is done by Matthew Hawtin - brother of Richie's? - a somewhat beatless ambient thing.
