MS-20's never go for less than $650 now (that I've ever seen) and MS-50's never go for less than $750, so even if you were incredibly lucky, you'd never find them separately for less than $1400. What makes this deal even sweeter, though, is that the MS-50 adds an incredible amount of functionality to an MS-20. For example, it's impossible to modulate the MS-20's filter with an oscillator in the audio range (FM) unless you have an MS-50 (or another modular). As far as running the MS-50 from a volt/oct sequencer, it's not quite as simple as it may seem at first. While the oscillator does accept either v/oct or htz/volt, you're going to have problems with the trigger, as the Korg triggers are S type (or is it T? I always get them confused). Anyway, they're the type that output +3V when the gate is off, then drop to 0V when they receive a trigger (essentially, the oppositte of Arp or Roland triggers). There are solutions to this, depending upon what kind of sequencer you have--e.g. you could run the trigger through the MS-20's external signal processor, or you could use an inverter (although the inverter on the 50 doesn't seem to work for this purpose--I use a Doepfer trigger modifier). If you can find one, you could get the MS-02 interface, which would solve all your problems. The best solution, however, would be to get the SQ-10 sequencer, especially since it looks so damned cool next to the 20 and the 50. (Of course, then you're gonna want to get an MS-10, and then you might as well pick up the MS-03, and then you'll be hounding around for a VC-10 and the pedals...). ...Whew, I guess that's kind of a long winded response.
