Hi Peter!

Thanks for the reply!

I looked into the manual, and tried everything, but I guess it's more
serious
than that....I have *lots* of problems with it...

Actually the Learn button is broken, it doesn't click anymore,
although I used it about 4 times, and never dropped the thing or mistreated
it...
not the quality to expect from a not quite cheap device....

and now, right after the AC input, there is a component almost boiling when
I
plug the Power supply in.... Just before dying, the MIDI light flashed once
when
I plugged the PSU, and now.. doesn,t anymore...

Also, Doepfer don't sell power supply with it, the guy at the store gave me
a Radio Shack
PSU, the specs ae ok, but it's a little tight to fit in...
and after plugging/unplugging, the inner plug just
made a cold joint on the PCboard,
ripping by the same time the actual circuit off the board...

I discovered all this at the same time... and I was p*/*/ed off as you can
imagine...
I mean, I'm not rude at all with my gear, it's only used, full-time in a
typical home
studio.... I couldn't believe it how bad the design and construction quality
was....

Anyways, I guess I'll pay a bit more the next time, get better build
quality....
and I'll get a free analogue synth with it,
Something like a Spectral audio Neptune, or a Waldorf Pulse +....

About the MCV4 not being top of the line.... I don't think this is a good
argument,
Just because I buy a 4channel MIDI to CV means it should not be as reliable
as a
24 channel one??

I mean, Doepfer is in a very difficult market niche,
where competition is fierce, and customers have high expectations
they are clearly not in it for the money, so why cutting
corners on design and components for so-called not-top-of-the-line ?
I would still have a working MCV4 if it was build with better parts,
more than that... I wouldn't care much if it was more expensive...
I would be still be loyal to Doepfer because I'd have some proof they
make good, reliable and pro stuff,

Anyways, If someone needs parts of my MCV4 (Chips, board, case, whatever..)
let me know!

Vincent
