>The early Cari Lekebusch stuff that I heard was really trancey. I >think the releases I am thinking about were on Planet Rhythm and came >out around 1994. I didn't like that stuff very much. With regard to >Drum Code 4, I thought that was great!! I also picked up a Know For >They Because, Vansterprassel Me and a couple of other that I can't >remember the names of, which I thought were excellent. I think Cari >Lekebusch put out some of the best techno (for the floor) of last year. > yes, you're right. cari lekebusch along with adam beyer, jesper = dahlbaek, simon hartley, ascendence and a few other guys put out quite a = few trancy records back in those years.. some stuff is really sad but i = guess all artists go through a variety of styles before finding what = seems to be his/hers own style.. but to the opposite of that there's = nothing wrong to be a bit varied.. anyway i sold my 'know they for because' album the week after i got it - = guess that wraps my comments on that one - and the drumcode records i've = never really been a fan of. maybe it's because of the fact that the same = records are played by different dj's and that makes it boring. there are = exceptions, of course, but a lot of the swedish dj's just pick up the = latest drumcode, p. rhythm, primate, reload records and then nothning = else. it's really dull and annoying, that hardly anybody even dares = playing any detroit or cr/bc/m records.. >The Mr James Barth - Stealin Music was pretty bad house. I think there >might have been one song which was decent. With regards to the James >Barth material, I thought Knocking Boot vol 2 was decent...but not >nearly as good as the other stuff I mentioned. > according to cari himself it's supposed to be dubby stuff that works for = both the floor and for home listening. i just didn't like that very much = either. the knocking boots were ok, but there's more james barth records = around. he previously released 'my old blues suits' on swedish house = label plumphouse, but that one i haven't heard so i can't speak up for = that one. >The Sons and Daughters Of The Rising had some pretty decent stuff. I >wasn't into the hip hop. The drum n bass and techno stuff was pretty >good. > it's all decent i think, but i've only heard it once or twice. really = dug that experimental godkingpriest-track. it's just the wrong label for = such a varied compilation imho. >With regards to Adam Beyer, his Conceiled Patterns 1-4 was pretty >good. I also like he Oliver Ho release on Drumcode. > conceiled was good. it's always nice to know that somebody like him do = something besides the hard as nails-techno. :) >When I talked to Adam Beyer a few months ago he was talking about >releasing a full-length soon. Hopefully it has as much depth as the >most recent Surgeon and James Ruskin lps. Instead of one hard as >minimal track after the other. > i hope so too. but i'm sure it'll get more attention in the swedish = techno scene if it's all hard stuff like the stuff dj's can play. people = who are both dj's and producers often do stuff they can play while = djing, and in adam beyers case, it's hard as nails stuff. he nearly = killed the dancers at the lollipop festival last year with his dj set. = it was bitchin' though, i'd expected to see joey beltram but he = cancelled (as did weatherall for his dj performance), so that wasn't = really fun anyway. i was really tired after two nights of dancing = anyway, so i guess it was for the best that beltram didn't show up to = tease my feet with his ill techno. -bauri .
