from the Soleilmoon electronic mail-order update:

Please note that effective April 1999, the label Side Effects no longer
exists.

After fifteen years of heading the label, I feel I've taken it as far as I
can. Now, as music distribution and retail industries change it's become
increasingly difficult to be both viable and visible within a market that
is getting smaller, while the actual number of weekly releases increases. It
takes more effort to achieve less, and as such I feel that there are more
creative ways to use my time and energy.

It's been a fun and rewarding experience, and I'm proud of what the label
released, but now it's time to move on.

I'll concentrate my efforts on other commitments, including catching up on
Lustmord recordings, and hopefully another Arecibo album, we shall see...

The Side Effects back catalog won't be affected and is still available

For those that do not know side effects was quite an astonishing label.
As for the IDM tie in, atom heart has a release on the label.

As for what Mr. Williams said about distributors and the shrinking of the
market I coudln't agree more.

I guess side effects' problem was that they did not have a frisbee ;)
