Although I find it terrible to rip synths apart for parts - the =20 Mirage commonly shows up in the $75-$100 price range for the rack =20 version here in Seattle. They all have 8 CEM filter chips in them =20 which commonly sell on this list for $30 or so. I own 2 Racks and =20 one Keyboard and love the grittier sound of 8-bits. I have one multi-=20 layer piano patch that still sounds better than most other samplers. =20 I started on synths so the "horrible" keyboard action that most =20 players complain about doesn't bother me at all. The main complaint =20 is the 4-second sample time maximum. Some of the older software that =20 makes it into a digital synth (www.syntaur.com/mirage.htm) sound =20 pretty good also.
