The filter on the sh09 is indeed constructed from BA662s. There is one device for each of the four poles in the filter, plus another 662 for the vca. The filter design is very similar (if not identical) to the quad 662 filter used in the System 100M vcf module. IMO, the superior sound of the sh09 is a property of it's discrete oscillator versus the cem3340 of the 101. I came to this conclusion after I removed the original filter circuitry from my sh09 and replaced it with a SSM2045 filter. After this mod, the synth retained it's characteristic sound - it was still instantly recognisable as an 09 - but the new filter turned it into a sub-bass monster from hell that could knock birds out the sky with one blip of its resonance... The extracted BA662s were for use in my 303 clone - the vca in the 303 is 662 based, and using a 3080 doesn't cut it. Colin f
