I would say that the 2600 is a great option. It is difficult to get such a large range of options for the price eg: filtering, s&h, ring mod. The trashy reverb and input distortion I find extremely useful. Lots of bands such as Radiohead and U2 are now employing these techniques. I always sing the praises of the Doepfer but I prefer the audio input on the Arp. Agreed a Serge panel would be excellent but you are talking a serious investment. BTW I currently use all three to process everything from guitars to drum loops. CW p.s. Doepfer are doing a half rack specifically aimed at audio processing.
