DVP-1 vocoder - opinions?

Are you sure you understood how a vocoder actually works ?? (sorry)
You don't control the pitch at the vocoder, but at the synth you use at
the
"synthesis" input. The internal VCO in a vocoder is just for testing and
demo.
(many vocoders don't even have one).
I don't know of *any* analogue vocoder that has patch memory.
So you either get the real thing without memory, or buy a cheap d*g*t*l
surrogate.
