Oh Christ, it's bloody Olive, those bastions of pale pop who
demonstrated the power of marketting by getting to No.1 in Britain (and
probably around the world) by releasing the same thing time after time
with different remixes until they got it right. The one that did it, and
the one of which the above person speaks, is the Paul Oakenfold mix. The
track is called "You're Not Alone" and even Roni Size couldn't do
anything interesting with it (although he chucks away all the correct
bits). That 'beatiful siren' is just a crappy filtered noise - pre-set
standard on most 'sound boxes' these days.

One question - Why is Paul Oakenfold so bloody popular? The man is a
total dick and something should be done. Why?

i) he remixed everyone from the Happy Mondays to On-U sound in a
horrible baleric style.
ii) that bloody Pig-Bag thing (Reach Up or whatever the hell it was
called).
iii)that Perfecto FC logo. What a load of shite.
iv) touring with U2.
v) he brought trance back from the grave.

There are many many more which are just too painful to list...

Anyone want to start the "Kill Paul Oakenfold List"?

gb.

PS If anyone reccommends to me a 3xCD boxed set of his stuff that is
"really innovative" and "lays bare the techniques behind his works
genius", I will not be responsible for my actions.

PPS Forgive this post. Flu is addling my brain...
