I think the VCA is weak and since it's pretty much fixed in the chain
you want to have at least one separate. This would also let you do VC
res with the very nice ladder filter.

There's no VC hi pass filter and while I just love the Roland ladder
filter I think a modern VC multimode filter complements the system.
Doepfer's M12 filter would give you a lot of variety or you could go
for something simpler.

Personally, I don't like the ring mod. I haven't had mine open in a
while and I only have the 101 schematics, not the 102, so I don't know
if it's 1496 based, but the SH-5 is so I expect the System 100 is
also. But, that might not be true.

In fact, I should say that what I like about the system 100 is the VCO
and the VCF. I like almost nothing else about it. I suspect that it's
just the waveshapers in the VCO that I like at that. But, it sounds
fantastic. I still remember the first time I played out with it, which
was the first time I heard it on a big system, oh my god, I had no
idea that it sounded that good.

So, as much as I hate to admit it because I don't like the guy, if you
like the sound of the ring mod in Peter's new module then I think that
and a multimode filter would really complement the system well.

I'm guessing since you just purchased a system 100 on demand that
money's not an issue so one of those nice little doepfer boxes with
about 2.5 modules would make a nice companion. The M12 filter will
just about fill up one of those boxes btw.

This advice is based on my experience with the 102 expander only. I
have two of them which I use with my arp 1613. I don't really know how
the 104 sequencer and 101 change the dynamics of using the system.

Just my .02,
daryl
