(as the price is decent in the UK but not so competitive say in the U.S.). For whatever its worth I've been using the original Peavy PC1600 for quite a while (16 sliders and 16 buttons) and more recently got a Doepfer Drehbank (64 knobs, but needs a computer to create new patches). As with the latter, I got kind of frusterated with having to decide which parameters to have going at once. I've found that with 64, you don't need to leave very many out. The knobs are pretty close and they do put out small amounts of spurrious data, which fortunately isn't all over the place, its wherever the knob is resting. There are programmable parameters in the patches top safeguard against it-- I think there is a programmable threashhold before it sends MIDI. Neither he knob spacing or the output at rest I find a major problem. The beta SoundDiver editor is pretty slow going IMHO though. nick kent
