This is true, but how much of the auction was bid so far out of
proportion that it was absurd ? I watched two pieces that I wanted get
bid to twice the going market rate and one piece (of which there were
actually 3), the Synton Syrinx, went upwards of £1500. Over $2600 for a
friggin monosynth !!!!!!!

Serious dealers aren't going to bother buying module by module unless
they are so pathetically cheap and readily available that they could
build a whole system to sell for big $$$$.

I always get a kick out of this statement. What stars do you think are
buying this shit ? Most of the big guys have one or two modular things
that they've owned since the beginning of time. Even Hans bought the
100m, Moog stuff, and Polyfusion (which I think was later sold) and then
a Doepfer. To my knowledge he does not scrounge the world looking to buy
every cool piece of gear that comes up. Most of these guys are using
samplers, huh, god forbid, those bastards, and only a couple analog
things. Case after case, the "star" musicians who can afford this stuff
are not buying it. When they do it's a Serge or Doepfer. So who are the
dealers selling to ? Rental Companies ? Collectors ? Not musicians. And
that my friends pisses me off !!! Prices are rising for no good reason.

My point exactly.
