(idm) Popspotting

Apologies for semi-nonIDM related questions but I heard a song a few years
ago that I can't find and that I'm dying to discover.
Here are my clues:
1. Female vocalist
2. The chorus in part was "The consciousness goes.."
3. Lots of strings in the background.

If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it A LOT. Speaking of pop, is
there a list devoted to groups like:
Crustation, Morcheeba, Hooverphonic, Doris Days, Bjork, Slowdive and the
like?
I would love to call it pop but a lot of people think of NSYNC when you say
stuff like that.
