It's not how I do things, but I just got a demo from Chris Graves that
is pure state of the art, and done mostly (if not entirely) in fast tracker
2.  There are tracks on there that are absolutely THE SHIT, in my opinion --
noisy, post-industrial, post aphex twin drill and bass.

It aint the tool, it's watcha do wit it.  I have a friend who does everything
in Octamed on an Amiga, with a Roland R5 drum machine that is great stuff too.

A lot of people on IDM probably have a fast PC and a soundcard, but no
other music gear.  If you want to try making music, get into mod trackers.
The internet is full of samples, so all you need is to roll up your sleeves
and get on with it.  Really.
