hmmm..  i think autechre would be reasonably popular even excluding people
on this list..  i remember back in the mid '90s, muchmusic (a reasonably
commercial music station in canada) used to run basscadet every few days,
and when i saw autechre play a club here about a year ago, the place was
filled near capacity with the more intellectual ravers, post-rockers,
ambient heads, and aging industrial scenesters..  by being rather
undefinable, they manage to penetrate a lot of different little markets..
they certainly aren't household names, but they aren't idle hobbyists
pressing cd-rs either (not that there's anything wrong with that)..
trent's past experiences have made him a savvy businessman at the very
least, and wouldn't have signed them if he didn't think he could sell the
music..
