Just got back from seeing Trans Am perform live at Spaceland. All I had heard by them previously was their track on the Mille Plateaux comp. "In Memorium..." When I walked in (12:00), they were already playing; it sounded ok, but was nothing special. Reminded me a lot of a band I saw about 8 years ago at the Roxy called Abecedarians (who soon after were signed to Factory.) The song went on for a while, then improved dramaticly when they (esp. the drummer) shifted gears from their snare-driven instru-rock (imagine an idm Ventures) to some mesmerizing bass-dominated meandering. Each song seemed to follow that pattern, but getting better and better as the amount of (boom-click-boom-click) typical rock drumming decreased. Seems like they played around 5 songs total and by the end I was really enjoying them and very glad I woke up in time to go. - Charles __________________________________________________________ Techno 12"s & CDs for sale: http://members.aol.com/perv303/forsale.html __________________________________________________________
