They're not motivated by aesthetics alone. That argument was voiced before by Luke Vibert, that music is only what sounds good, and it's complete bullshit. I really think that if they can come up with a title like _Chiastic Slide_ and artwork that actually relates in some way to that title, then obviously some fundamental thought process went into the music. If they can choose Futura, which was designed with specific goals in mind, and have *that* relate to the rest of the packaging, then its not just about two monkeys sitting in a pub grunting, "Hey, Rocko..erm Rob, that looks groovy." And then proceeding to leaf through _NME_ or whatever poser mag to fawn over next season's fashion and music fads. I think you're wrong. God, I hope you're wrong. Of course, in all the quoting that was done, it was never acknowledged that I described the review as a subjective process, entirely at the discretion of the writer. Oh well. Chalk it up to experience. And write another Reuterz piece honouring bozos like the ones who make these kinds of comments. -Alex -- Date: Thu, 30 Jul 1998 13:10:41 -0400 From: jif <xxx@xxxxxx.xxx> Subject: Re: (idm) Ae _Untitled_ Review [long] > > A Developed Analysis of Ae's Conceptual Development from _Chiastic > > Slide_ > > to _Untitled_ >> > > > {snip} and all the while sean and rob are probably releasing records because they sound good and choosing artwork because it looks good, and wondering what brand of shoes theyre gonna buy when they get their residuals...
