by age...

1 -3 I cannot remember

4 I liked stuff by Crazy Horse and Jethro Tull, cannot remeber the
names of albums, but I still have these melodies in my mind...

5 Rolling Stones and Beatless, every fuckin album they released.

6-9 I remember that I listened to some Neil Young, Bob Dylan,
Jefferson Airplane, Kinks, JJ Cale, old Fleetwood Mac, Joni
Mitchell, Wings, Joan Baez, The Doors, Van Morrison, . . . this
is the stuff my mother used to play me when I was at home.

10-11 Lots of pop music, like Kim Wylde, Madonna, Michael Jackson,
Culture Club, . . . I finnaly find music by myself, these are the first
records I've bought... but not with my money yet. These are all bought to me
by my friends for birthday or by my parents.

12-14 I got into heavy metal, started with stuff like w.a.s.p. , motley
crue, europe, jon bon jovi, whitesnake, alice cooper, every single glam
rock, heavy that existed. Then I got into Iron Maiden, and stuck with them
for about 2 years, and had every album they released (I still have few LPs).
After Iron Maiden I got into Slayer, early Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth....
Kreator (I still own 'Extreme Agressions LP, 1st bid = 100USD ;-) ) ,
Pestilence, Death, Sepultura, Napalm Death, SOD, Suicidal Tendencies, My
Dying Bride, Sick Of It All, Dog Eat Dog, Exploited, Sex Pistols, GBH, . . .
everything from death/doom/thrash metal to HC/punk . . . even Disciplina
Kitchme and Miladojka. In this period I strated to buy records with my
money, and became addicted to the music :-)

15 I started to listen to rap for some time, to stuff like Public
Enemy, Cypress Hill, 2 Live Crew, Ice-T, NWA, Run DMC, Gang Starr,. . . I
still like Tim Dog's 'Duck Town' and A Tribe Called Quest 'Bonita....' and
many of the old skool rap/electro stuff. In this period I also started to
lurk in my fathers collection again, and I found some really interesting
stuff which I didn't liked when I was younger, like David Bowie, Eno,
Talking Heads, Stranglers,The Clash,....even Pink Floyd (they were my best
group for some time) I bought first electronic music CD, The Prodigy
'Experience' and listened to stuff like 'Who Is Elvis ?" by Interactive, or
Who Killed JFK' or USURA 'Open Your Mind' plus loads of stuff on Italian
comercial dance labels like Dance Magic (Fargetta, Mollela, all these cheesy
disco/dance italo stuff).

16 Started to listen a lot of gabba staff/rotterdam type, my first
CDs were Rave The City I and II, 1st and 2nd Thunderdome, House Party 8....
I really loved stuff made by DJ Gizmo, Buzz Fuzz, Rob Gee, Paul Elstak,Van
Kreckhoven, DJ Bountyhunter, Deaz D., everything....the faster the
better....crazy 200bpm with acid flavour.

17 At this age I really listened a lot of different staff, like
Tuxedo Moon (I remember that I really loved '59 to 1'), Christian Death,
Death In June, Dead Can Dance, Nephilim, Front 242, Frontline
Assembly, Clock Dva, . . . lot of dark/goth/ebm stuff. Then I got into more
and more fathers records, I started to listen them all, it didn't matter to
me weather it was The Fall, Leine Lovich or stuff like Tangerine Dream or
Focus... I liked em all. At this age I listened to really lot of different
stuff...It would be really hard to list all that bands..... I remember I
bought The Smiths 'Best of I and II' on vinyl, even Jesus And Mary Chain....
I had almost all Sonic Youth albums on CDs, lot of Swans, and all those NY
noise. Lot of Laibach, Cabaret Voltaire, Einsturzende,....New Order, Joy
Division, Kraftwerk, Japan, more Bowie, Eno, Fripp stuff.....I wanted to
discover more and more good music... Velvet Underground, Vanila Fudge,
Stooges, Fuzztones, . . .
Then I got into Djax-Up-Beats (everything from Acid Junkies, Random XS, Zero
Zone, REC/Terrace, Glenn Underground, Paul Johnson, Clementine, plus loads
of harder techno with acid flavour like Robert Armani), F Comm, Harthouse
(really liked Sven Vath and Cosmic Baby), Laurent Garnier, Plastikman, PWOG,
Gaia records compilations, plus lot of harder house party type stuff, lot of
chicago classics (Sleezy D I've lost control' was my best track ever, I
still love it)... then FSOL, Orbital, The Orb,...

17 (summer) --------> bought Aphex Twin 'SAW II' tripple brown vynil
18 -----> bought my first AI release : Black Dog 'Bytes'
still buying a lot of non-idm material

20 ----> became an IDM purist ----> reason ----> money, time and Croatia

and that's the story of a frustrated
bye
rob (now 21, so that means that I'm into IDM for 4 years...still learning)
