(amb) Bass Communion vs. Muslimgauze

Got my copy of this direct from Steven Wilson (aka BC, Porcupine Tree,
No-Man, etc). For those unfamiliar with his work as Bass Communion, it's
really quite excellent...I call it "itchy ambient" - quiet, dark and
unsettling. Not your normal sort of dark ambient, but a bit stranger. I
trust most people have had some exposure to the late Mr. Jones' material
(prolific as he was). Anyway, this is a VERY VERY nice blend of styles
happening. Byrn didn't overrun the sessions at all (his sound - the
crunchy aspect of it, anyway - can tend to be dominant). This turns out
to be (imo) an impressive hybrid. Mid-eastern touches here and there,
some of MG's signature distorto touches....and yet a clear dose of the
kind of atmosphere which Bass Communion evokes. It's a cheapie, too...I
think it goes for around 10$. Grab it for a good change of pace.
