Okay...all I own currently are the Organic Grooves, Audio Messages (codek) and Obliq recordings cds - but all of the above are stuck in rotation (interrupted only by the Wagon Christ studio sessions and some Modernist stuff) in my car player (this means I really like 'em). One of the best thing about all three is that they defy neat categorization. Right now Audio Messages in playing and it's a rich swirl of dubbish, mid eastern, beats, samples and an odd landscape which makes me think I put on the Black Dog live in Toronto boot and forgot about it in places. Not really ambient, not really IDM, but both and neither in spots. Organic Grooves is likewise difficult to pigeonhole. Warmer, some acoustic loops tossed in and a nice BoC/Bola-esque kind of atmosphere to it. My wife likes this best of the lot. The Obliq cd is a bit more crunchy and displays more IDM input, but it's still got one foot in the ambient/idm camp and the other off in space somewhere. All of these things are (imo, of course) absolute gems and available at criminally low prices (I think I paid about 11-12$ each for them). Great stuff. Now I'm afraid I'm going to have to seek out what vinyl I can find on both labels and see exactly what I've been missing. High marks from me, for what it's worth. -- jeff "10,000 people all screaming the same thing at the same time are wrong, even if they're right." dancing/about/architecture "...with wandering steps and slow..."
