What is soft sync?

my plan is to use as a modular
2 x system 100 101 keyboards
1 x system 100 104 sequencer
1 x system 100M 191j rack with 121 VCF, 130 VCA, 140 EG/LFO, 150 Ring  
Noise S/H/LFO
