The ' CR ' stands for CompuRhythm - a phase Roland went through when all
they're equipment was marked ' computer controlled ' ( JP4, Promars, CSQ
sequencers etcetera ).

100, 100M and 700 modular systems

The X2X series generally complimented the X0X - as in the 707 Drum
machine and the Latin / Percussion version of the 707 using the same case
/ hardware - the 727 ( no it's not an aircraft !! - well, yes it is
actually - but Roland made their 727 to take volts DC instead of
hi-octane fuel ).

Roland JP4/6/8 and variants, Oberheim OB8 ( stunning !!! - crapped in my
pants - twice! when I heard it for the first time ! ), Korg Monopoly /
Polysix, Sequential Pro 1......................
